Contented Critters (formerly S N A P Spay Neuter Aid Program) is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit (EIN: 41-1835418, License: MN140872) no-kill animal shelter located in Ely, Minnesota. However, while our facility is in Ely, we rescue animals from across Northern Minnesota, and have partnerships that help us rescue animals from across the world.

The mission of Contented Critters is to advocate for and help pets in need through rescue, no-kill sheltering, rehabilitation, appropriate veterinary care, and adoption.

Our vision is to reduce the community need for pet rescue through preemptive measures, such as a spay and neuter program for pets in our care, and community outreach and education.

The majority of the animals that come through our doors are dogs and cats. Many of these animals are found abandoned, some have been rescued from bad situations, and some were simply dropped off by owners who can no longer care for them. Regardless of breed, age or situation, we provide these animals with appropriate veterinary care and keep them happy and healthy until suitable, loving homes can be found for them.
No cat or dog leaves Contented Critters without being spayed or neutered.
